Mirage HT configuration

December 26, 2007

To Roger Kanno,

I just read your review of the Mirage system, where you mentioned the possibility of using the OMD-5 as front speaker. I was wondering about your thoughts on using four OMD-5s, one OMD-C1 and two Prestige S10s. That combination would cost $1000 less than the review system and offer good low-frequency resolution as well as the ability to disappear by being attached to the wall.

René

Although I did not try this configuration, I would not hesitate in doing so because the OMD-5s sounded so good. I would even go so far as suggesting that five OMD-5s along with one or more Prestige S10 subs (depending on the size of your room) could save you even more money. Using three OMD-5s across the front might even be more coherent and sound better than using an OMD-C1 as the center-channel….Roger Kanno

Paradigm Signature v.2 review?

December 20, 2007

To Doug Schneider,

Great review of the Paradigm Signature S1 v.2 on SoundStage! When is the full theater review coming? Also, what sub do you plan to use?

Thom Randall

Glad you enjoyed that review -- the S1 v.2 is a great little speaker. As for the full home-theater, I plan to have it done for early in the spring. In terms of the sub, however, I haven't decided....Doug Schneider

JVC projectors

December 5, 2007

To Wes Marshall,

Thanks for your review and insight into the JVC HD1. I would truly appreciate your perception of the JVC RS2. I think that a comparison article would truly interest many readers.

Tim Comolli

The main difference is in the specified contrast ratio, which went from 15,000:1 on the HD1 to 30,000:1 on the RS2. I’ll have to get a side-by-side demo before I can tell you whether that’s noticeable. 15000:1 without an auto-iris is pretty spectacular.

I bought the HD1….Wes Marshall
