Rounding Up Budget Westerns

In May 2003, four studios (Fox, MGM, Paramount, and Universal) released a spate of Western movies, and what is more, at either $14.95 or $19.95 price points. This means you can likely obtain them for $10 or $15 each! We don’t have the staff or space to review them all, so we asked our writers and editors to pick the 12 best. These are titles you can add to earlier releases such as The Searchers, The Magnificent Seven, Valdez is Coming, Lawman, and High Noon, all of which have now been reduced in price. The list below has been picked from the new releases.

  • Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (Paramount)
  • Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (Fox Home Video)
  • Winchester ’73 (Universal)
  • Little Big Man (Paramount)
  • Rio Lobo (Paramount)
  • Two Mules for Sister Sara (Universal)
  • Destry Rides Again (Universal)
  • Shenandoah (Universal)
  • Big Jake (Paramount)
  • Duel at Diablo (MGM)
  • The Unforgiven (1960) (MGM)
  • The Comancheros (Fox Home Video)
